Job Summary
The Systems Engineer (SE) will contribute to the development of aviation autonomy systems. As part of the Systems Engineering Group, the SE will embed within project and product teams to carry out development, integration, and test activities. This role will apply systems engineering practices to hardware and software coupled systems. The SE will work closely with project leads, internal stakeholders, software and hardware developers, and operators. The SE will help to refine systems processes and to enact them across projects for one or more advanced prototypes.

- Safety assurance:
- Functional hazard analysis and failure modes and effects analysis
- Safety requirements development and validation
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field
- 5+ years of industry experience participating in at least one complete project cycle, including definition, development, deployment, and verification
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to assess tasks and apply appropriate processes, tools, and levels of formality and to adapt to changes in course
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- This position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, with time primarily in the office and a portion of time in the field
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in aviation, autonomous vehicles, or defense markets
- Experience with safety critical software systems
- Proficiency in a requirements tracking tool (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Visure)
